Growing Together by Faith

Making room for people. Building faith together. Preparing for generations.

The Vision

Making Room for What God is Doing

God has been faithful to King’s Cross Church from the beginning. As our church and community continue to grow, we believe he is inviting us into a new season of faith, generosity, and mission.

NEXT is not simply about expanding a building. It is about making room for people, growing together as a church family, and preparing for generations of gospel ministry in our community.

Why Now?

The Mission Field Is Moving Toward Us

More than 30,000 people are expected to move into our community over the next 15 years. New neighborhoods are being built, new families are arriving, and many are looking for connection, community, and hope.

We believe God has placed King’s Cross Church here for this moment. As our community grows, we want to be ready to welcome people, help them find meaningful community, disciple the next generation, and point them to the hope of Jesus.

The Heart of Next

More Than a Building

This initiative is about how God is preparing our church to serve the people and generations he is bringing to our community.

01

Making Room for People

Creating space where people can be welcomed, known, loved, and discipled.

02

Building Faith Together

Praying together, trusting the Lord together, and allowing him to grow our generosity, unity, and dependence on him.

03

Preparing for Generations

Making decisions today that will support gospel ministry for the people and generations still to come.

The Campus Vision

A Home for Gospel Ministry

Buildings do not change lives. Jesus does. But buildings create space where people gather, hear the Word, worship, pray, learn, serve, and build lasting community.

Phase 01

Sanctuary Expansion

More room for the church family to gather in worship, increasing seating from 225 to 340 and adding approximately 4,000 square feet of flexible space.

Phase 02

Entrance Expansion

Approximately 6,000 additional square feet for hospitality, connection, classes, meetings, care, and ministry throughout the week.

Phase 03

Campus Expansion

Acquiring the adjacent property would add six buildable acres, bringing the campus to nine buildable acres and creating flexibility for future ministry, parking, access, and long-term growth.

This phase is focused on securing the land. Any future construction on the property would be considered in a later season as the Lord provides.

The Financial Vision

Understanding the Numbers

The vision begins with the next necessary step and looks ahead to what may be possible as the Lord provides. King’s Cross will move forward wisely and in phases based on the commitments and gifts received.

NEXT is an invitation for every person who calls King’s Cross home to participate. This is not about equal gifts. It is about shared faith, shared sacrifice, and shared trust in the Lord.

01

Pray

Ask the Lord how he is calling you to participate. Pray for our church, our leaders, our community, and the people God will bring through this ministry.

02

Commit

Make a three-year generosity commitment as an act of faith and worship.

03

Give

Bring a one-time gift on Commitment Sunday, November 1, and give toward your commitment over the next three years.

Giving to NEXT

The NEXT Initiative is a separate fund. All NEXT commitments and gifts are above and beyond regular giving to King’s Cross Church. A one-time gift may also be given in addition to your three-year commitment.

Why are we doing this now?

Our church and the Cainhoy Peninsula are growing. More than 30,000 new neighbors are expected to move into our community over the next 15 years, and our current facilities already limit how many people we can welcome and serve.

We believe God has placed King’s Cross here for this moment. NEXT will help us prepare for continued growth, create space for meaningful ministry, and serve the people and families he brings to our community.

Is NEXT just about a building?

No. Buildings do not change lives. Jesus does. But buildings provide space where people can gather, worship, hear God’s Word, build relationships, receive care, and grow in faith.

NEXT is about making room for people, building faith together, and preparing for generations of gospel ministry. The proposed expansion and additional property are tools that will help support that mission.

What does the $12.3 million goal include?

The complete NEXT vision includes:

  • $400,000 for project planning
  • $100,000 for existing building upgrades
  • $3 million for sanctuary expansion
  • $2 million for entrance expansion
  • $4.5 million for campus expansion
  • $2.3 million for debt reduction

The first $500,000 will allow King’s Cross to complete necessary building upgrades and begin the planning, permitting, engineering, and design work required to move forward.

Why does the campaign include debt reduction?

Reducing existing debt will strengthen the church’s long-term financial position and create greater flexibility for future ministry. It will allow more of our resources to support the mission of the church rather than ongoing debt obligations.

Including debt reduction in NEXT helps ensure that the church is not only expanding its physical space but also preparing for the future from a healthy financial foundation.

What happens if the full goal is not reached?

NEXT has been designed as a phased initiative. King’s Cross will move forward wisely based on the commitments and gifts received, beginning with the most immediate needs.

The first priority is completing existing building upgrades and the planning work necessary to begin. Additional phases will move forward as the Lord provides and as church leadership determines that the resources are available.

How should I decide what to give?

Begin with prayer. Ask the Lord how he may be calling you to participate, and consider what a meaningful step of faith and generosity would look like for you or your family.

This is not about equal gifts. It is about each person responding faithfully and participating together. Your commitment should be prayerful, personal, and made with trust in the Lord’s provision.

Can I fulfill my commitment over time?

Yes. NEXT is a three-year generosity initiative. Your commitment can be fulfilled through recurring or periodic gifts over those three years.

The digital commitment card will ask for the total amount you intend to give. You can then determine the giving schedule that works best for you.

Is NEXT separate from my regular giving?

Yes. NEXT is a separate fund from the church’s regular ministry fund. Commitments and gifts to NEXT are intended to be above and beyond your regular giving to King’s Cross Church.

Continued regular giving is essential because it supports the church’s ongoing worship, ministry, missions, staffing, and daily operations.

Is a one-time gift part of my three-year commitment?

No. The one-time gift is an additional opportunity to help King’s Cross begin moving forward with the immediate needs of the initiative. It may be given in addition to the amount you commit to give over the next three years.

The digital commitment card will allow you to indicate both your three-year commitment and any additional one-time gift.

Still have qustions?

Our elders would be grateful for the opportunity to talk with you, answer your questions, and pray with you as you consider your NEXT step.

What Is Your NEXT Step?

After prayerfully considering how the Lord is calling you to participate, complete your digital commitment card and join us as we make room for people, build faith together, and prepare for generations.
