our story is a story of grace. it’s a story of the gospel.

In 2016 God led a team people to start a new church to reach Charleston and the world with, and for, the gospel. We hope you are encouraged by our story - it’s one small part of what God is doing in the world.

2016

The dream is born.

On August 21, 2016 42 adults covenanted together to form King’s Cross Church. Our vision was to reach and shape a part of the city that was both under-reached and on the brink of explosive growth. We wanted to be a gospel community, to impact a community with the gospel, and to live out the gospel as people on mission for their city and the world.

We did so with the support of a great sending church, The Church at LifePark, and a dynamic network of like minded church planting churches, Summit Collaborative.

2016

The dream is launched.

On September 11, 2016, we had our first public worship service at Jennie Moore Elementary School in Mt. Pleasant. That morning began a three-year run of setting up and tearing down ministry environments every week. For a long time everything we owned fit in one old U-Haul truck!

But God was at work! We met new people every week, saw dozens of them come to faith, and began to see a faith family form as King’s Cross Church became a reality.

2017

the mission moves forward.

On November 26, 2017 we moved to Philip Simmons Middle School on Clements Ferry Road in Charleston. Moving into the Cainhoy/Clements Ferry corridor was always our goal - it just took a little while to get there!

At the time, there wasn’t even a grocery store in this 12-mile stretch of the city. But there were thousands of people (and more moving in every month!), brand new public schools, and a huge opportunity to see lives changed by the gospel.

2019

we found a home.

On August 11, 2019 we had our first worship service in our permanent home on Clements Ferry Road. Of course, the church isn’t a building, but buildings matter because of what they symbolize: commitment to a community.

God worked powerfully through our people and our partners to transform a doggy day care (yes, really) into a dynamic, fresh, welcoming environment for life changing ministries.

2021

Jesus has been so faithful.

On September 12, 2021 Kings Cross Church celebrated five years of Jesus being faithful to His mission. In that time we’ve seen over 50 people baptized, we’ve given away over $100K to support other church plants, we’ve seen over 500 students attend our monthly FCA rallies at Philip Simmons Schools, and we recently sent out one of our pastors, Kelly Graham, and his family to plant a church in the N. Bay of San Francisco.

It’s been an awesome, God-sized journey so far but we truly believe the best is yet to come! We’re just getting started, and we’d love for you to join us!
